Driving to Annecy is a great way for those looking for a successful self drive summer villa holiday to France.  Take the ferry or Euro Tunnel to France from Dover, Folkstone or Portsmouth. The road journey from Calais is just 530m (823km) by the most direct route. Driving to Annecy you will take the Route du Soleil ( motorway to the sun) and the main French towns you will by pass by on route are Reims, Troyes; Dijon, Macon at which point you take an easterly route direction Geneva to Bourg en Bresse and then only the final  40km is by A road or Route National to Annecy.

The route is 95% by extremely good motorway.  The motorway tolls cost is approximately 100 Euro each way.  When driving to Annecy a good stop-over town is Reims where you will be bale to stock up on a bottle or two of bubby from the world famous Champagne region.  Whilst driving to Annecy remember to share the driving with stints of 4 hours per driver and check tyre pressure before setting out.  Also don’t forget to fill the petrol tank when necessary. Once you arrive at the detination of Annecy in Haute Savoie  it is easy to find your holiday hotel or villa at one of the 6 beautiful lakeside villages.
