There are a number of theatres in and around Annecy screening Festival films from 10 am to 11 pm.
Each evening at 10:15 pm, there is also a screening on the giant screen on the Pâquier lawn (free to all).
Read through the history of the Annecy Festival, from its beginnings in the 1960s with the Jica and Asifa; the creation of Cica; the economic dimension of the event and the arrival of the International Animation Film Market (Mifa) in the 80s; the Festival’s flourishing years in the 2000s and the creation of CITIA; to reach its 50 years of existence as a mature festival in 2010, while the Mifa celebrates it’s 30th birthday in 2015.
Annecy plays host each year to the world’s premier animated movie festival. In 2016 this will take place between 13th and 18th June. Pop-up movie theatres play the latest releases from 1000 – 2300 each day. Each evening, in the Paquier park there is a free outdoor screening. The great and good of the animation world descend on Annecy for the week. There are many free exhibitions through-out the town and free talks and speaking events with directors and producers. The festival also screens more than 200 specially selected films from throughout the world as their official festival selection.
